Meet Amber
Amber has dedicated her career to protecting the most vulnerable in our community. She brings skill, compassion, and kindness to her clients and will assist them in navigating what is often the most confusing and frightening time of their lives. For Amber, there is nothing more rewarding than supporting and empowering crime victims; and in doing so, shifting the power from the abuser to the survivor.
Amber spent the first 13 years of her career as a prosecutor for the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office. She worked closely with law enforcement, medical providers, schools, child protective services, and other partner agencies to investigate and prosecute some of the most complex cases in Multnomah County. With over eight years of experience in major person felonies, she gained specific expertise in crimes of violence within families, including partner-on-partner violence and child abuse. She was a member of the Multnomah County Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Team (MDT) for six years and became a leader in the State of Oregon on cases involving physical and sexual abuse against children and child homicides.
In Amber’s capacity as an MDT Deputy District Attorney, she also represented the State of Oregon in dependency cases. Dependency cases are civil matters where the State intervenes to take legal and often physical custody of children who are unsafe in their home. Her involvement in dependency matters complimented her criminal prosecutions, with both areas of law sharing the ultimate priority of maintaining the child’s health, safety, and wellbeing.
Amber is a frequent speaker on child abuse and trial advocacy and has presented to government agencies, private corporations, and community organizations as well as educating fellow attorneys at continuing legal education programs. Amber also co-authored the chapter on Criminal Law: Search and Seizure for the Oregon State Bar.
On top of her advocacy in the courtroom, Amber is also busy helping children in her personal life. As a mother to three young kids, she can relate to the beautiful, complex, and often messy job of parenting. She volunteers at her kids’ schools and is currently a member of the neighborhood elementary school PTA Board. She brings this energy and focus into her legal practice by never losing sight of the child’s best interests.
Amber cares deeply about issues impacting women in our community and fights for justice, safety and equality for those who identify as women. Having spent her career navigating a male dominated profession, she learned to use her voice to affect change and empower fellow women and mothers.
Amber is an Oregonian, born and raised in Eugene. She went to South Eugene High School before moving to Montreal to attend McGill University. She came back to Oregon to attend law school at the University of Oregon School of Law. She speaks French, loves to ski, and may be the world’s biggest Little League fan.
